Cache Creek, updated

Postby pickaxe » Wed Feb 10, 2010 10:51 pm

Well, just got home from our GPOC meeting. Stephanie(sp) from BLM came in and did a brief present on Cache. There are still some things to be ironed in house at BLM out on the tree situation, water diversion was discussed quite a lot, and camping. A lot of it was the regular chatter on undercutting banks, NOI level work, etc. The Royal Gorge BLM website will be updated as this info becomes available. Also, the Cache Creek "host" program sounds like it will be in place again. They would like to , or will be, putting up a better perimeter marking, sounds like a splitrail fence on the highbanking area.

The only real change so far is the number of days available at Cache, is 14. That includes highbanking as well as SLUICING or PANNING. 14 days total per person. And with the increase in days, an increase on NOTICE level work permit fees from $25 to $30. Non motorized work is still no fee. So, you pay a little more, you get a little more. But you cannot buy extra days, anymore. 14 is the limit.

Also, for those that go to Point Bar. As it stands right now there is no actual river access! Including the "pit". That whole section of river has been claimed.
Stephanie did not think that bucketing material to the river should be a problem, but some claim owners can be touchy, so take note.

Look for updated info on BLM's site.

Good Luck, and heavy pans pickaxe

I'll try. It can be done. I just need to figure out how. Thanks for the update.
