a friend of mine has 3 raw uncut diamonds that he offered me. depending on the size and clariety(C,C,C,Cetc.)what would be a fair offering for these? i dont have a picture of them. and no, they arent blood diamonds!!
It seems to me that in and around Murfreesboro uncut diamonds were selling at about ten bucks a point. 0.1 carat is ten points and $100. This was for fairly small stones, all less than a 0.25 carat. Now, that seems high to me, but what do I know? Most of the ones for sale were a black color.
It is probably worth what you and he agree on for price.
Uncut is a pig in a poke--you could come out sweet or coated in kaka I believe you mentioned you,or bud,had a blacklight to check for genuine as many uncut stones resemble raw diamonds to the uneducated eye--thats me--John
Careful Russ, the blacklight only works roughly 50% of the time and that's because of impurities. They are accepted now (full value), but in old days that was a test that cut value (still astronomical though). If you really want the final test, send them to a GIA laboratory in LA. or NY NY for validation.
