I'll put more up as we metal detect with the various detectors we (Connie and I) use frequently (this made with Tennessee friend George Bortnick (he and wife Sauna were the ones at Geno's funeral, Leonard):

Hoser/Russ

They were actually far ahead of their time. A revolutionary product by Eric Foster (the engineer). The weak point was the batteries were not replaceable without sending the unit back to Garrett - if you did it yourself, the warranty was voided. Not as bad as it seemed, they would last about 5 years if used often to break the memory effect. Of all the detectors I used (and that's a houseful) it is that unit that found the most gold (and I'll admit that it could be due to a lack of diving competition).

Russ: have you checked to see if it will take a charge? There is still some collector demand for his units in England - might stick it on Ebay and see what happens.

2000 units had upgraded circuits and a few component improvements also. Good detectors for sure. We must learn to covet them oldies but goodies as that phrase now refers to us ol'farts too :o Take care fellas-John
