Now all we have to do is figure out how to pin it to the top of the forum. If I figure it out, I'll let you know.

Do you have any pics of your finds from your diamonds series? I want to look for some in the state line area as I live near livermore/readfeather. I've been panning the non claimed drainage's but don't really know what I am doing.

Love your vids BTW, real pro.

We didn't find any big enough to photograph, coming to the conclusion one would have to be very fortunate to find a diamond big enough to cut as the kimberlite there would need to be run in a tonnage operation (like Kelsey Lake). What we did find was micro-diamonds by the hundreds of thousands and kimberlite shot through many locations (as Dan Hausel found as well). When I go back, I'm going to try running a (small) dredge slow for a day and run kimberlite and see if anything shows. Shining with a florescent light might also be productive (I have found 2 small diamonds that way). The most productive thing of all for a dredger would be to keep all concentrates from Douglas Creek and similar drainages and go through them thoroughly by several separation methods (spiral wheel, sluice/micro sluice/florescent light) and one might just turn up a diamond at any time (sapphire as well).

Look up "Dan Hausel" + diamonds + kimberlite + Wyoming + USGS to get all the research papers and info you will need to ID. You can also go to USGS store/hq at the college in Laramie and pick up several very useful books.

Best of luck to you, hunting kimberlite pipes is pretty exciting stuff!

I've actually thought of using the UV light but when I tested my LED and floro UV lamps on a diamond tennis bracelet I found a long time ago 2/3 lit up but it was so faint that I don't think I would be able to see a diamond very well unless like you say I was sorting through cons at home.

I've been reading a lot of what Dan Hausel has to say on his site and in published work, he seems to be cited in almost everything written on diamonds (and other gems) in this area and especially Wyoming.

I think this is Dan's site http://gemhunter.webs.com/diamonds.htm

i found out that not all diamonds glow the same color with the UV lamps. some show blue and some a off shade ,almost like purple.but il have to trythat out after this July while up at Douglas Creek.
