Clear Creek Gold and high banker dredge

Postby Gold_Reef_Ron » Mon Oct 04, 2010 6:19 am

Went out yesterday for a few hours on Clear Creek and found some good color. Just wish it was bigger, but it adds up. Question? Took my 2 1/2 inch Keene high banker combo dredge. The high banker works great, but could not get the dredge to create enough suction to operate properly even at full throttle. Any suggestions?????

how high was your box from the water? if its to high it wont move the material very well. i had that problem years back with a friends 2 inch highbanker and small 2 cycle pump. it was to high and not enough pump.

Russau, I am pretty sure that is the problem as well as with that small of pump it is not going to lift very high off the water line. Either need to get a bigger pump or sit the box right in the river. The problem is that it attaches to the high banker box which is still a foot above the water line even with the box down at water level. I will have to do some more adapting, or get a different box attachment. Thanks for the input.

The problem I've encountered here in Colorado, is that if you can get a spot to work your highbanker (I've got a 3" Proline combo) is when I've got the unit in the water and working by myself, the unit is prone to tipping over, unless you have someone tending on top. I haven't had any problems getting water and material to run through the box as the 5.5 hp engine and pump assembly is fairly powerful.
