I figured out all of this afew years ago and need a refresher.
So I know that certain areas/drainages require a permit to dredge in rivers administered by BLM. These areas have a max nozzle size or 4" and some 3". Is it possible to obtain a permit to run lets say a 6" in these areas on your own claim? What about streches of river that are patented.......do you still need a permit if you have permission or own the patented land?
National forest outside of these permit areas that are open for mineral entry you can sluice/pan but if dredging or highbanking you technically need to file a Notice of Intent...to locate? What are the max dredge sizes that wouldn't require some nasty paperwork and bonds?
On BLM land elsewhere that doesn't have these extra regulations, I know that you can dredge....but what are the limitations? 4" 5" 6" dredge? When do you need to obtain a permit to work these locations.
This is just good info to know but I'm also trying to decide if I can operate a 5" dredge in a fair ammount of places here without further permitting. I'd like to get a 5" to move some material, and can ring it down to 4" when necessary.
Any information is greatly appreciated! Happy hunting!
