Arkansas River running hot and heavy

I went to Howard, about 15 miles from Salida today. On the way back I stopped by the High Hopes claim. Here what almost all of the Arkansas looks like. Way too high for me. I'd just as soon not die like one of the stupid rafters did last week.

Has the CCC ever been up to DC over Labor Day?

I don't know what the dredging season is up there, but I was wondering if the first two weeks in Sept would be a better time to have the get together?

I know you usually go to a different place for LD, but maybe the close of the season this year might work out.

Geno's wife has rescheduled his memorial at Douglas Creek until next year. We usually go to the Arkansas over Labor Day. With the cluster going on at Douglas Creek this year, we don't see any good reason not to just skip it this year. Forum members are welcome to join us on the Arkansas Labor Day though. We have 1/2 mile of river there and a great camping spot right on the claim.

Leonard Is the water run off a lot slower in Sept at DC? Does the dredging and prospecting there shut down after Labor Day? I understand snow there, but the skeeeters might be less.

I'm GPAA and I can always use there claim. Not planning on going, but I am thinking about the possibility. It's all about the economy this year, and I'm still recovering from my South Carolina trip at Easter this year. I'm thinking about either going back to SC or maybe try and follow Matt's route for rough sapphires, jade and sunstones.

The dredging season at Douglas Creek only runs from 1 July to usually just after Labor Day. I don't know the exact date as we only go there for the opening of the season. The water should be low in late august though. It usually is for 1 July. This is the first year that there is high water on 1 July.

Wyoming dredge season is from July 1 to Sept 10
