Fall on the Arkansas

Postby golden optimist » Fri Aug 02, 2013 2:12 pm

Okjohn stopped by this morning to pick up my dredge for his son to use over the next week or so on the Arkansas with him. I couldn't make it so I thought I'd at least let my dredge enjoy it. It didn't go anywhere last year either. I tried to start it after a 2 year rest in my barn. I put some gas in and discovered gas was leaking everywhere. Closer inspection showed that all of the hoses from the gas tank to the carburator were shot and leaking. 1 foot of 1/4" gass line and 6 hose clamps later the problem was solved. I'm thinking the alcohol added may have ate up the hoses. I hope it doesn't do the same to my stomach lining. After about 6 pulls on the starter later it was running.

We got it loaded and by 8:30 they were on the way. Camp should be set up now and the dredges may even hit the water today.
