High Colorado Snow Pics -- 2 Jan 2015

Hey Gold Dredgers...

Well, we've had about a week of on/off snow from an unnamed winter storm that has been flowing from the West coast, thru Idaho/Utah to us...

All totaled, I'd guess about 18 to 24 inches. It's packed down a little under its own weight. I live in Buena Vista, Colorado, up about 8,500 feet, with Mt. Princeton to my South, Mt. Yale to my Southwest, Mt. Columbia directly West and the twin Buffalo Peaks to my immediate Northeast...

Coldest temp was Wednesday morning, 31 Dec 14, at a balmy 15.8 degrees below zero!

It was 7 below zero this morning when I snapped these pics....

So, might be a long while before I can get back to gold prospecting with all this snow/ice and subfreezing temps... Regardless, all the ski resorts are loving it, opening early, many with 50+ inches of base and already 120 to 150 total inches so far this winter!

Regardless, I wish all "Gold Adventurers" a Happy 2015 and a LOT of fun and gold!

Looks beautiful but I already did 7 years in snow country and I prefer just a little snow a year here. Man alive I sure miss skiing though as body won't allow but what a glorious way to spend a day flying down them slopes with the powder flying and glistening like diamonds in the morning sun on a virgin run. THAT part of snow I did coveth as even better than surfing, love them miles long runs here in calif all over the place. Never skiied colorado though, just too busy to invest that much time. From my office in Carson City Nevada I was on the slopes in 1/2 hour. Hope ya have a great new year ,thanx for the winter wonderland pics, brings back grand memories-John
