A New Adventure

Postby libertydave » Thu Oct 10, 2013 11:38 am

Over twenty years ago we began our gold mining equipment small business, Liberty Resources Company, in Renton, WA. Back then there was fifteen outlets for mining gear in this locale and today, sadly, there are only a couple still in business which tells you the state of our small business climate and gold mining today.

Since 1992 we've delivered a whole lot of mining equipment to our many customers in Western Washington and also some from Idaho, Oregon, Alaska and Canada. The best part has always been in meeting people and informing them about the excitment and adventure they'll find in small scale gold mining. A lot of cases of gold fever took off the day we delivered one of our Keene or Proline dredges or high bankers. I can't count the number of small bottles with gold that our customers shared with us. We also were involved with the Dredge Earth First (DEF) events and later the Resources Coalition "Miner's Rallys" and always gave back a portion of our profits to mining associations because it was just the right thing to do. Also, I met many of you at those events some ten years ago and still recall the good times we shared on the SF Umpqua River and in Oroville.

Years back I made a promise to my wife that when I reached seventy I would retire and we'd spend some time enjoying life and let someone else take LRC to new directions. I'm pleased to let you know that we are selling the business to some great people who will not only retain our customer service focus and have a store in downtown Renton, WA but also plan to open one or two more stores in Western Washington during the next year. I wish them...and all of you...only the best and always hope that future generations will have an opportunity to go gold mining and have the same thrill and adventure all of us discover some color in the bottom our pans.

My best to each and all of you and I'll continue checking Leonard's gold dredger.com forum so I can hear news of what you are doing.

May each of you find your bonanza,
Regards, Dave Knowlen (aka 'Liberty Dave')

i hope your very very happy in your retirement. I am happy you could find some one to buy the shop. heck its hard now days to keep a shop up and running but to get persons in to buy stuff. all the dango regulations and nasty stuff happing in the woods getting any one to go out is getting hard.
save a tree, eat a squirrel.

Thank you all for your well wishes. I'm looking forward to doing some gold mining myself rather than just discussing it in a the store, a gold show or over the phone to a customer.

FYI, I began dredging 32 years ago and have owned and operated large-scale (8") and several smaller-sized gold dredges. That led me to begin the LRC retail business in '92 and while also consulting on mining equipment design. I will continue the equipment design consulting and while my health today keeps me from operating large equipment I can still use my 2" high-banker and my Hydro Force nozzle just for the pure pleasure of recovering some color. Yea!!!

So Jan 1 it will be...have gear, will travel...because there are lots of bedrock cracks out there waiting to be cleaned. Maybe we'll see each other along the way. Cheers.
