Not sure of the point of the scam other than to get their 15 minutes of fame, it didn't increase the value... still a righteous chunk of AU

This was around 7 years ago, It's was said and I beleive that the scam was trying to the increase the value of the claim the nugget was said to be found on.
Just think about it if you had a gold claim and just say it's maybe worth for example $50,000 and then you find a 100 ounce nugget on that claim, that IMHO would increase the value of the claim by 20X or more, so now you could sell that $50,000 claim for around $1,000,000!!!
