First time Detecting

Postby JDNehl » Fri Jun 11, 2010 7:33 am

I have a friend that is letting me test drive a Scorpion Gold Stinger, I'm considering buying it from him. Been having fun in the yard and the wife's garden diggin up nails and wire. I have to re-ground balance a lot. Doesn't bother me much, but am I doing something wrong? Hope to take it to the creek this weekend. I'll let you guy's know how it goes, will be sluicing as well.

Well we had a lot of fun last weekend, found a lot of trash and two rocks. One rock is small and has some quartz in it, no visible gold though. The other is huge and gives a signal from all sides, but I see no quartz and I haven't broken them up yet. Also ran a few small buckets through the sluice, still have to run the cons but nothing big in the box. Had a lot of fun, still not sure on the Scorpion. A lot of re-balancing.

I've got two Gold Bug 2's. I'm able to detect the smallest of targets (gold and trash), and for my money, they are the best, but I'm sure there are detectors on the market that will give them a run for the money, but that's just my 2 cents. I also have a Minelab SD2200V2 for the deeper targets, (gold, and trash), not as easy to break down and put in my back pack.
