THIS PICTURE IS OF THE REMNANTS OF AN OLD DAMN DOWNSTREAM FROM US.
THEY TRIED TO RE-ROUT THE CREEK SO THEY COULD MINE THE CHANNEL.

Cool Picture.

I have been told that these dams were all over the Sierra's, I have never seen any intact but would imagine they would be like this one in your picture.
You can find evidence of them sometimes when dredging and good gold at the base of where they once stood.
You got to think boy when they finally failed and bust open they must move a whole lot of material down river.

I bet that the the best gold is just below the edge of the the dam

Back in the 80's when I was dredging the So Fork of the Yuba, I found a burried dam. Decided to give a couple of days to oncob=ver some of it vs going for the gold.......... It was amazing that after so many floods it was still intact

I wouldn't go within the distance of its height of that structure...
that thing could cause a serious headache at a minimum!

HI RON

BACK IN HIGH SCHOOL OUR GEOLOGY TEACHER HAD THIS CLAIM.HE WOULD TAKE THE WHOLE CLASS THERE
ON A FIELD TRIP EVERY YEAR.THIS PIC WAS TAKEN IN 75 I BELIEVE-JUST YELLOWED. I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT
HIKING OVER THE HILL TO CHECK ON IT AGAIN - JUST NEVER HAVE.
