Umpqua River Dredging

Postby libertydave » Tue Jul 03, 2012 1:59 pm

I am interested on who is going to Oregon's SF Umpqua River (near Myrtle Creek, OR) this July (or August). The North American Miner's Association (NAMA) has scheduled an outing there (River's West RV Park) on July 22-28 and another is set for August 6-12. Several of my mining/dredging friends are also going for some in-water mechanical exercise and they hope to see some old friends from DEF 2002.

I can't make it until July 26 but am hopeful on seeing some of you folks that I met a decade ago at the DEF event that have the Umpqua in ther summer mining plans.

Hi John,

Was at a NAMA meeting last month and the group has a lot of new members, a healthy bank statement and several outings planned this summer. They meet each month in Auburn, WA and have some good mining claims in WA and OR.

It was formerly the Boeing Employees Prospectors Society and around since late sixties until it became NAMA in 2002 making it the oldest operating mining and prospecting club in Washington State. Post me you information if anyone is interested and I'll pass the contact info on to the NAMA President, Bob Cleveland.

Regards, Dave

The TRW gem/mineral made a trek up in the early 70's to a show/meet with the Boeing Folks--what a hoot. Glad to hear they're still going albeit in a much larger audience now as the old school TRW folks folded as factories shuttered. Hope ya'all have a ball and tons a au 2 u 2 -John :D

I always wondered what happened to the Boeing prospectors. I used to dredge with some of the guys in Idaho on the s. fork of the Clearwater back in the 70´s. glad to see they still exist under a new name.

I'm pretty sure the Boeing club also has it's own entity as I went with my friend, a Boeing guy, to a couple of their claims on the Peshastin on Blewitt pass. They are called the BEPSI now if I recall properly. I think they also have claims on the Sultan river and elsewhere.
There is another Washington club I'd like to know about which is the NCCMA, North central cascade miners asso. Anyone got some info on them? they seem to have a placer tunnel in Liberty that would nice to have access to.
July 1 has passed. Time to start dredging in some of the WA rivers!

The Boeing Employees Prospectors Society, Inc., nicknamed "BEPSI", was formerly a Boeing recreation group founded in the 1960s for Company employees interested in gold mining and prospecting. The membership decided to dissolve its relationship from Boeing in 2002 and became the North American Miner's Association, or "NAMA". NAMA today has nearly 200 members and families.

However, there is another Boeing employees prospecting group still active today, the Boeing Everett Employees Prospecting Society, or "BEEPS". Everett is a city north of Seattle and home to Boeing's Everett Division airplane production facilities.

Allright, that makes sense. My friends paperwork said BEEPS, and the some of the old claim markers said BEPSI. You can see why I'd be mistaken!
