Christmas is coming

Postby Ornery Cuss » Sun Nov 22, 2015 2:21 pm

With Holiday 2015 fast approaching.
Its time to figure out what I'm buying me for Christmas. :D

Those of you that use waders, what do you use ? Are you happy with or change styles ?
I have looked around, it seems in this area there are two styles, 3mil neoprene or PVC plastic, with or without boots.

I have a pair of industrial hip waders that have worked fine but are developing holes, time for new pair.
Yeah, I could try repairs but we all know they don't last. There is nothing worse than a leak in a boot.
I hate wet feet, unless its summer time.

Enjoy and give thanks for the blessings we receive each day this holiday season.

My fantastic Hodgman Chest waders keep me nice and comfy and dry just fine. The attached boots have that strange Velcro/scotchbrite cross type material that sticks to slippery rocks like glue. Wore out my dredge boots with the same stuff after 12+ years, amazing stuff, wish I'd a heard about it sooner as it would have saved my old body many a fall.... 8-) Have a happy turkeyday ya'all-John :D

John in Misery the Missouri dept of Natural resources has outlawed boots/shoes that have this type of bottoms on them. I bought some of that type of shoe sole replacement material and put it onto my T shoes for the slippery rocks and used it for years to prevent my slipping and slidding in the streams BUT I don't use it anymore because they say it helps transports unwanted organisems from stream to stream and spreads the problem of unwanted species into the streams. Besides im to beat up to use them anymore anyway! watchout for F.O.G. !! BUT that stuff really worked good while I had it!!

I remember years ago, it was Toms old forum, somebody suggested miners moss on your shoes.
I cut some up and glued it to the bottoms of some old tennis shoes and went to work, it did OK but wore out pretty quick.
G.O. talks about felt soles, used when out fishing, makes sense kinda pricey.

Now I have some hiking boots about two sizes to big, add a pair of socks, or I'm in my waders in the cold weather.
Trying to decide if I want insulated (sounds warmer) and boots attached.
My ankles itch something fierce after a day in cold water, almost like the dreaded poison oak itch, but only a day or two. :? :x
