Using a light bulb dimmer switch will let you adjust the speeds much easier BUT haven't used one in years so am not sure if motor/wiring harness has been redone. Should not hurt anything as just a variac .Nice to see a great ol'Genie in such fine shape. Bummer on digits but kaka do happen as we age...

I used a switch off a 5 speed Panasonic ceiling fan. gives me a lot of speed control. that is for 110 v

Thanks John. It was a rescue when I found it and i refurbed it about 10 years ago. It's about time to add a little more paint but she still spins strong.
The motor on the GS has another tap that is already wired for slow speed. I will just put a 2 position switch in and hook up the other lead, that'll fix it

ac/dc shouldn't matter as used one before on a dozen or so goldfarbs back in the day in my stores wet demo area.We were using a battery charger to run units and the dimmer switch for speeds. When camper window smash job and ammo locker done I'll play and find out for sure as memory ain't what it used to be-John
