searching for pay streaks with GMT

Hi All,
I picked up a GMT a couple of years ago and have played with it when out and about, not really knowing what I was doing. I guess here in WA state there is alot of mineralization so I had a hard time getting the hang of the thing. In other words, not many nuggets to be found where I go... Also the coil seems to have been on its way out as it was getting progressively harder to use the gain, so while I was learning it, it war skoolin' me Now it is fixed and I want to figure it out.
Anyone know of a good article or video on using it (or another detector) as a tool to find the pay streaks? I don't expect to find any larger bits of gold in the areas I go to, just heavy minerals.

Imp-- nuggets are the toughest finds and your not really in good nugget territory. Mutz and putz with coins,relics,and beaches to learn that unit and then go for the gold. Your trying to fly without knowing how to walk the walk and your unit will become a closet queen as a result--calm,slow and cool and it will come-John

I would look for the material that comes in a pay streak, not just the gold. R

I guess I didn't write up my post very well...
I was asking if there was some good info of finding the pay streak to get me in the right area to put the small dredge or sluice I have.
I don't expect to find gold with the MD, and figuring it out to locate the minerals has been an issue with the failing coil. The only think I found with it was a rock with a seam of copper in it.
Although I had suspected that gold nugs in WA were not common, all your comments seem to confirm this!

As a Washington State dredger, for quite sometime, I don't think I'd use a metal detector to locate a place to dredge...
Black sands do not always carry gold, and anything worth a damn is going to be much deeper than a metal detector can detect anyway (and underwater)
You can still use Google to find what you're looking for, if you use the right keywords!

A couple of years ago, GO and I had a great time using a dredge/metal detector combo. We used the dredge to clear bedrock and expose several cracks. We then ran the metal detector over the cracks and found a few hits. Leonard then dug where the signals were strongest. We found a nice nugget that way. Leonard can probably point you to the video.
