Skagway to Juneau Area

Hello Brother Miners, One of my goals was to find a gold claim in the Skagway to Juneau area. After doing some home work, I find that there might no be a lot of gold in this area. In the past, they went through this area just to get to the gold fields in the Klondike. Have you prospected in this area? Am I waisting my time in this area? Thank you...JOHN
