Learning How To Speak Australian

My prospecting dream is to go to Australia and find a little bit of Aussie gold, so I've been trying to learn to speak Australian, the first saying I'e been working on is "Shrimp on the Barbie" even though I don't know why they do this, I gotten pretty good at saying it just like a native Australian!!!

G'day to you Skip ! A good friend of mine did that trip many years back and he did well! he went to the western gold fields. At one time I wanted to setup a gold buying op with someone (trustworthy/honest) tobe stationed over there to do the actual buying of gold out in the gold camps rather than the prospectors comeing into the Caravan where most gold purchases are done. and then he would ship me the gold to sell here in the States. BUT that never happened , BUT it was good dreaming of it! I know youll have a great time ! Heck right now I have a hard time just going to the grocery store ! See ! I can already talk the talk!

Never thought that I would be seriously considering this...but what can ya tell me about the western gold fields there? Maybe PNG? Its getting seriously discouraging trying to do a bit of dredging around here!!!

Glen I don't know / remember much of his details on his trip , it was 20 years ago . BUT I think he bought a package deal (somewhere) and ofcourse youll need a passport but you fly into Easterm OZ and buy a Fossickers permit (may have been in his package deal??)and then fly /drive to the Western part of the Country then out to the outback where youll be in a camp of like prospectors using metal detectors. over there they use a specially setup Minelab . I don't know what they do to it ,But he told me their special.....?? after a week or so everyone comes back to the Caravan from out at the fossickers camps at the outback location. this is where the gold buyers are located. you would see all kinds of people show up. the Aboriginals search for gold as well amd also come into the Caravans to sell their gold. I was told you can also buy from them BUT its NOT smart to try to "get a toooo good of a deal" because once they find out you screwed them they'll come back to get even! My friend also said he saw people out there finding BIG gold in the matrix and they used oxy/accet tourchs to melt the gold out ,rather than having the specimen Lots of flat bushy land ! And a real long plan ride! Yep it would be a adventure for sure! I wish I did it years back when I could!

Sounds like I am destined to freeze my arse off dredging in Alaska again this season. Seems like every place that is warm and has gold is infested with caimen, banditos, or environuts. Come to think of it, they"re all the same kind of critter

Glen you poor soul I wish I had your problem or atleast could do what your doing! Ive been invited togo to Alaska by several of my friends BUT I just cant do it like that anymore! I was up at Birch Creek at Paridise Vally with Mic Mann in 2000 and loved it BUT like you up there dredgeing would top it all! Good Luck for 2016 !

I just saw pics of Alaska polar bears/seals on YAHOO trying to find ice as it's 50 degrees ABOVE normal now in the great,used to be,white north??? I've seen ,heard and been told down to a 30 day dredge season also and worse coming next year?? Environutz closing in all over?. John
