Turquoise Fever

Postby golden optimist » Thu Sep 19, 2019 11:38 am

I've been watching this on the Insp channel on Dish channel 259. Not gold but prospecting and plenty of digging and blasting. It's shot in Nevada. Check it out. I find it very interesting.

It looks like I'm a little late. The final show is next Wednesday. It's the ISP channel. You'll have to watch for replays.

It's definitely not dredging country.

I remember stumping around the Nevada hills some 25 years ago looking for gems like turquoise. Our best strikes started atop an ant mound. Them little burrowers would bring up gravel from 20 feet down. Even found some gold that way! And they worked cheap and continuous !! :D

That was a excellent tip for gem hunters you gave - and that is what Larry Lake and I would do looking for peridot and pyrope garnet (found in the same kimberlite pipe as diamond). Actually, any gem they'll bring up because they don't like anything with sharp edges. People that saw us must've thought we were crazy for ants at the time, going around inspecting mounds with magnifying glasses for chips.

Good to see a post from you John. It's been a while. I'm trying to get Skype going on my "new to me" computer. It doesn't run on XP any more. The "new to me" computer has Windows 10 and that brings new challenges to me.
