California Mining History

This chunk weighs in at just over 17 oz. Unfortunatly the history of where it originally came from is gone. What I can say about this nugget, is the last time it was recovered it came from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. This is one of the largest nuggets recovered from the SS Central America. Recently, Sothbys auction House sold it for $121,000. A friend just purchased it from a the last owner and it will be up for sale again in Tucson. If you have ever seen the bbok "Americas Lost Treasure" it is shown on page 8. This piece is very well documented and was found by an original 49r! Enjoy, it gave me chills down my back when I first held it

Thats great as I've read the story and watched the video's of the Central America. It's truely a great video and story.

Now I guess I have to post the "mine's bigger than yours" story.

You can see it at http://golddredger.com/16-1mine.htm when Dave and I got to hold the "Whopper" Image , 140 ounces of gold.

Leonard 16 to 1 is a great California legacy, crystaline pride. Still going strong.
I love going up there for visits.
