The wife and I were in Alaska in '98 visiting friends. We flew in for three weeks in Sept and seen the area from Anchorage to Homer and Seward. Great place and it was better having friends show us around and accompany us. Great memories and photo's.
We still would love to go back.

You've not really experienced Alaska until you get off of the beaten path. Nothing better than flying into remote interior AK and panning where no man has been before (at least no evidence of man)

I TOTALLY AGREE! 
However, 3 weeks isn't a long time to explore and I wasn't into panning back then.
I still like caribou and halibut. And we did take a backpack trip on the Russian Lakes trail.
