Hang on to your butt Russ!

It's headed your way! It hit here Wednesday morning 5"00 am. Power went out at 5:30. Stayed off until 8:00 pm. It's wet and heavy! The roads are clearing up nicely. I just have to get out of my driveway tomorrow. Measured about 10" here.

Our power went back off for a couple of hours and then came back and stayed. Phone service went off about 3:00 am and I called on my cell phone for repair service. They had it scheduled for Saturday evening but it came back also so everything is pretty much back to normal. Got the truck out of the driveway so that ok too.

The REA had 11% of their customers off line last night. They are down to 8% now so I guess we are part of the lucky ones.

Never fails Russ. I lived east of Carson City, in a outage prone area due to heavy snows/wind, bought a great automatic generator and never used the thing ever. Glad to hear your doing ok Leonard, take care-John

Smart move Russ and Hoser. I did the same and that gen is paid for so I have it when the day comes that I need it. I see it as great insurance and I only have to pay the premium once.

Stay dry! :D

trouble is , MOST people don't know how big of a generator they need. OR how to figure out what Kilowatts they need. at first (20 years ago) I just got what I could afford that would keep the fridge and TV on and maybe a light. then the heat of Summer came............I needed A/C for my wife and the freezers and fridge. OH yea I forgot the TV also and it kept going. I ended up with 4 generators. My 10kw , 6.5kw ,a 2.5 kw and a 1 kw for camping that I never used and sold at a loss. I also learned a lesson about the fuel I kept for these and the mowers. Boy did I learn a lesson about fuel in the Mid-west. it is JUNK after 30 days. now I keep True-fuel in my engines while in storage. then I could run regular fuel and valve off the gas and let it die on its own to keep it from sludgeing up the card over the time its not in use. This ole bird sometimes gets it right........eventually! :D

YAHOO that means we're still alive as we're still learning which is great. Some lessons a bit more expensive and I always use Stabil in my engines but I'll try that brand and see what I can learn. I had 2 contractor friends in CC who helped me buy right thankfully. Here we have a fella with the same mix and the CCRs won't let him run even 2 at a time...Storm coming but ready and thankful. Could NOT even cross the creek yesterday to check equipment as up over 3' and rising thank god--John

John that True Fuel is EXPENSIVE! It don't have the ethanol problem , in it that evaporates and turns it to junk! I always use Sta-Bil in everything also BUT now I also use Lucas oils ethanol (additive??) you can read about it at www.startron.com Im now a believer!
