We saw 3 pairs of eagles today. The 2 pictures here were taken from the same spot. One was quite a ways off but it is unusual here to see a pair, much less 2 pairs in the same area.

Must be getting close to Valentines Day.

Actually, you are right on.
I checked and nesting and egg laying season is "right about" Valentines Day. We were really surprised as we had only seen 2 eagles at one time before. To be able to see 2 pair from one spot was really unique.

Hi Leonard:

We have large populations of eagles here along the Mississippi River right near Lock and Dam 14 and 15. Good viewing areas and fishing below the dams. That is where open water is and they all congregate there during the winter. Mostly flying photo's because not a lot of area for perching. The nesting areas are miles up river near Savanna IL.
