All it takes is a young partner that has a desire to learn.

The problem with that idea is that these young'uns don't want to work. Just give them money and they are happy.
No joy anymore in a job well done. They would rather be playing than working.
Just the opinion of and old f**t looking at the world today.

Depends on how they were raised I think. I have grandkids that work their butts off.
There are plenty that don't want to work though..... Live off the system.

It doesn't have to be kids, just guys younger than you. I have found in general that there are some guys that want to learn and are interested enough in mining to give you a good days work.

When I first came here a guy that wanted to learn approached me about it. I put him on and he became one of the hardest workers I have ever seen ans well as a great friend. At 450 pounds he was convinced that there was no rock he couldn't move. He was kind, thoughtful and considerate. He was not only big, but he was also extremely strong.

He learned quickly and had a good head on his shoulders. It came natural for him to see on his own what was needed next. He worked hard at not clouding you out of the hole. He didn't just throw cobbles, but stacked them in his arms and made a huge lunge to get them far behind us. About the only cobbles I had to move as the nozzle man were the ones that were a bit "iffy" in size. I could put a lot of material up the hose working with him.

He insisted on doing ALL of the heavy lifting and hauling of equipment. He originally did this to lose weight. He figured hard work and cold water would do it and he was right. He lost just over 100 pounds the first summer.

I agree ! I don't think I could get up on my feet after dredging , and then walk out to the camp!!!! I'm whipped after a couple of hours working around the house trying to get it ready to put on the market, and then do it all over again the next day! Maybe I'll be looking for a rocking chair home!! :D When you lose your ability /health , you come to the realization QUICKLY that you just cant do the things you used to do NO MATTER how hard you fight it and DONT want to believe it!
