What does a rocket scientist do on his day off?

Go play with rockets, of course. If you are lucky, you might get invited along.

This is the spectator area from part of the way to the launch pad. For the size of the big rocket, it had to be 2,000 feet from the launch pad.

This is the "Stars and Stripes". It was 16 feet in length. It was the second largest one there.

On the pad. This is from 2,000 feet away. The people are 1,000 feet from the rocket.

This was really spectacular! It went up great but had some parachute problems. The drogue chute was supposed to pull out a 20 foot parachute and it evidently broke loose without pulling out the main chute. It came down from about 11,000 feet with no chute. It made a big hole in the ground from what I heard.

It was a great day! I watched sitting with Ed and Melanie.

You asked for it. It's only 1 minute long and 14 meg in size. It's hard to shoot rocket launches.
