October 29! A magic day!

Postby golden optimist » Mon Sep 20, 2010 5:34 pm

October 29 I retire after 33 years of work at Denver Fire Department. What that means to you is if you can make it into DIA, you'll get picked up and we'll spend a few days camping, drinking, and ham radioing at Saint Vrain State Park, about 50 miles north of Denver. Arangements will be made to house you and get you back to DIA when it's all over. Ed , his lovely wife Melanie, and I plan on being there. Let us know and I'll bet we can get you to join us.

Congratulations to you, and I know you'll enjoy retirement! Having spent 46 years in the work force, and finally retiring May 2008, I can say it's so neat, getting up when you feel like it, doing what you want to do, when you want to, and have no Boss. Well when your married, you always have a boss. I would love to attend, but since I've only met you once, and have been on the forum about a year, I feel this time should be spent with good, long time friends. Enjoy.

Magic my a$$!.
33 years (that's one third of your lifetime) of hard work and dedication is not magic, brother.
Another five weeks, and you will be retarded! It will be my pleasure to hoist a few. And Mrs. Ed will be the standby nurse.

Yeeee haw!\

Another milestone today! I filed for social security. A morsel of knowledge for those of you approaching your full retirement age, file at it even if you are still working. They pay your full benefit even if you are still working. I missed out on 24 months x $800.00. I will be able to get 6 months of it though so it's not a total loss.
