the trouble i have with ethonal is that it costs more to produce and is more costly at the pumps.its rough on the injector/carb, plus it gets losy MPG from it.and suppiers are few and far between! i could handel a electric truck if it could pull my trailer. id just put my generator in the back and make my run for the hills! i could just see me now,bbuuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing down the highway listening to ZZ Top!

electric trucks would be good, the problem would be they tend to be heavy, the enviros want to get rich building charging stations. so you can sit for hours drinking star bucks coffee. hybrids would still use fuel but you could go longer. heck in the 70's the first hybrid was killed by the EPA. the guy used a ford mustang and a generator. the EPA did not like the generator.

we could do things like fish out the Asian carps, turn them in to methane fertilizer and fish oil. also convert all the sewage plants in the states to produce methane. this would be bad all around. we would be helping the environment. we would not get much extra methane only 6 to 8 % more but it would be renewable and can be used to power trucks, forklifts, cars, make electricity. heck the inventor of the bloom box would love to have a renewable source of power.

The Wind Explorer is a lightweight, 220-kilogram [484 pounds] buggy with just enough space for the two men. Its carbon fiber egg-like body is mounted on an aluminum frame, and it has four bicycle tires specifically chosen to reduce drag. Under the bonnet rests an 8-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack, half the size of the pack in the Chevrolet Volt or Mitsubishi i-MiEV The battery provides juice to a hub motor driving one of the rear wheels.

The team claims the average power consumption is 2.0 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers, and say they averaged 300 to 430 kilometers per day. Top speed is 80 km/hr, or about 50 mph.

They ought to be able to rig the wind turbine setup on the car when they're using the para sail to charge the battery while they are under wind power you would think.

there probably behind the times. there is a ship that uses a wind mill to get ware its going. it also works to make power for the ship. it would be a bit harder to use it when under sail in a car.

i do like the ideal of using solar cells to cool a car when its sitting in a parking lot. the parking garages are a bit of a bear. lol. its just like the electric coolers using a piezoelectric cooler. flip a switch and it heats in the winter.

Not trying to be a smart azz here, but when the car is under sail, the dc wheel motor can be also be used as a generator to charge the battery. No need to try and rig a windmill. Just look out for trees and powerlines with the sail. :lol:

i was wondering about regenative braking and using the other wheels going down hill to power the craft. the draw back would be weight. the big trucks in coal mines use the system. it works well for them but there on a steep grade going a mile or more down hill.

i have tryed to explane a few things to car makers. the regative braking sounds nice. but when you drive like i do, you do not get much of a charge. i try not to use my brakes much, using hills to control my speed. if you drive the same hills every day you can learn what speed you need on a hill to make it over and how fast you need to be at the top not to end up going to fast on the down hill side. it saves fuel, not using your brakes way to much.
