Todays elk

Postby golden optimist » Fri Nov 15, 2019 5:25 pm

We saw an elk herd about 3 miles from our house yesterday. I didn't have my camera so we went back today. They hadn't moved very far. Looked to be around 100 or so. Saw a couple of small bulls.

Nice pics Leonard. No snow here so they won't move down until snow forces them to.

There's very little snow here. We were very surprised to see them. I've been watching but didn't expect to see them for a month or so. Yesterday was a good wildlife day. We saw 31 mule deer, about 30 wild turkey, 1 Bald Eagle and the elk herd.

I've always enjoyed seeing the wild life as I drove West of Larime Wyoming and saw heard's of Antelope running through the pasture's on the way to Douglas Creek.

Wish I had seen at least one during hunting season..... not even a cow.

Jim, didn't you see the pictures of the elk in Scott Valley a couple of weeks ago? Some really nice bulls in the herd.

Nice pictures even for the distance Leonard.

No Harry, I didn't see them. usually plenty of Elk along the Klamath when the snow flies. I used to have them come right down beside my driveway when I was living up near the post office.

Today we saw 55 Mule Deer and over 120 Elk. We parked about 25 feet from 6 bull Elk and watched them for about 10 minutes. They had huge racks and just totally ignored us. This was about 2 miles out of Loveland in the middle of some small acreage houses. Also saw a flock of about 30 wild turkeys. Its always fun to see the wildlife.
