We ran into a couple of elk herds today. There was somewhere around 150 or so. These pictures were taken at a herd just outside Loveland.

The lawn gets cut and fertilized close to the same time ! You just can't beat that ! It's nice to see that the Elk seem so safe in these people's front yards and it's nice to view them also in their natural state. :D

Years ago I stumbled upon a major Elk migration in and around Breckenridge. Just swarming all over the highways, lawns and fields in the area. They were mighty stubborn about yielding right of way to cars so I was able to closely observe the big fellows, their gals and the little ones.

Just like a week long Caribou migration years later in Alaska - only with no vehicle. High banking or panning concentrates with a furry nose over your shoulder lends new meaning to "Back Seat Driver". :o
