Mark September 14-19 on your calendar. Maybe next year I can make an appearence.

Hello, bourbon lovers. This just may be our favorite time of year: September is National Bourbon Heritage Month! And we're sure it's your favorite time of year too. The month's celebrations are rooted back in 1964 when Congress declared bourbon "America's Native Spirit," celebrating the legacy, tradition and family heritage that the bourbon industry has established in the United States.

Three years ago in August, Kentucky Senator Jim Bunning supported furthering this tradition with the bill declaring September National Bourbon Heritage Month. And we shouldn't have to tell you, the bill passed Congress unanimously! For more information on these auspicious events, and for some fun facts, visit americasnativespirit.com.

As many of you might already know, the celebration of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, which will be held on September 14-19, will be marking its 19th year. It's the perfect opportunity for bourbon lovers like yourself to celebrate National Bourbon Heritage Month and if you visit Bardstown, KY where the festival is held, you might just find Fred Noe, 7th Generation Beam Family Distiller, taking in the sights himself.

I was just in Bardstown this past July. That whole area is like the mecca of bourbon distillaries. Within a 30 or 40 mile stretch there are such distillaries as Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, Maker's Mark, plus several smaller distillaries as well.

I wanted to stop by the Wild Turkey distillary while we were down there to get you something you couldn't buy at the store, but didn't have enough time.

There's lots to do in that general area as well BESIDES drinking, not that you'd get to any of it. :P
