everything inside the Tahoe basin watershed was withdrawn a long time ago. a few miles to the north there was a hardrock mine, it was mostly in the next county and outside the basin. they disallowed my claim anyhow. :( :(

HAH! I lived on the Upper Truckee River outside Meyers for three years. I used to practice with my bow next to the river where the "grey water" from the golf coarse kitchen expelled into the river. They have a permit to drain "grey water" into the river like every other business in SO. Lake Tahoe! What a stinky mess!
My sister and I used to take turns house-sitting a place on the Upper Truckee on it's upper reaches next to the sewage pump that pumped sewage over the hill to the Carson Valley. Every time there was extremely high water the plant would overflow raw sewage into the river (twice in three years).
You can visit the marina at the mouth of the Upper Truckee & the Lake and see the petroleum film floating on the water around the boats...That lake is not 96% (or whatever) pure and the Upper Truckee is not pristine! It is all about the money and control! California side has a ban on new construction. They don't tell you "no", they just make your permits to build unaffordable, except for the very rich. Oh, and Nevada side is (or was) building like crazy.

We've all heard this and expected it. The consessis is when the greenies come over here we have alot of mine shafts for them. At least Nevada has *****!!!! This is a mining state and all the politicians know it!!! Nice in that you can carry in the open here! I bought a case of handcuffs in case I run across a greenie while out!! Gotta feed the lions to keep the cattle safe!!! I'd like to see where Cali. goes from here, but no real surprize!!!
