It's not those who are involved in dredging that have affected the Salmon run. It's the commercial fisherman, & Indian tribes, that can take Salmon by any method they deem necessary to catch that have ruined the run. I've not read anywhere that the Karuk Indians were ever authorized to fish such as they do. These are some of the very people who whined dredgers were hurting the Salmon run in the first place. What dredgers really do is stir up nutrients that feed the fish. Has anyone asked the fish their opinion on the subject? Are prospectors that choose to dredge not been affected too?
