Would vortex mat work well for a beach box?

Hi all,
Stuck inside and working on some projects that I've been storing in the back of my mind.
I was thinking of making a beach box and wanted to get some kind of matting and was thinking about vortex, but then I thought it may not release the sand too well. Anyone used it in a beach application?
Next project may be a scaled down E-tank/hydromatic jig... Gotta keep busy till the high country melts

it sould work fine but youll need to screen it (-30)to help it do its job. im impressed with it in my Gold Cube. but that vortex matting is expensive. i used black ribbed rubber matting in my beachbox that i made probly 15 years ago, and it worked fine and it was fairly inexpensive.

Two cents -

Being the miser I am, I've found using shelf liner under a rough plastic filter material that my local furnace company throws out when they install a new furnace and replace the stock filter material with hepa filters, under riffles, or the shelf stuff just held under 1/2 expanded steel works to trap ultra fine sands and silt.

I'm not endorsing anything here, but the shelf liner looks like this stuff.

In fact! Only yesterday, while looking for a new spatula in Bed Bath and Beyond, I saw a new non skid bath mat in a box that had something resembling 3M's Nomad on top of this shelf mat stuff. A good size piece for 20 bucks, but was framed so I'd have to cut it down, but looked VERY promising!

This review of on-line purchases is less than favorable.

I suggest if you think you want this stuff that you make the drive to WalMart or BedBath&Beyond rather than an on-line purchase from them.

Well, I took with the 20% OFF coupon my wife gave me and went down to BB&Beyond and bought 2 AquaRugs.
Figured I should get one for the bath en an effort to justify the one I'm going to cut up for my sluice or longtom.

Thge stuff looks like it'll be OK. The proof is in the pudding as they say.

I have heard that miners moss or Nomad or whatever the du-pont name for it is, loads up and if waterflow is lost will not keep recovering the gold. I wonder if this mat will act the same?

thats why i changed out my miners moss(4 inch O/U dredge) for Veranda carpet that Hoser gave me to try! i bought more and put it into a highbanker/beachbox that i ended up selling! the new owner loved the way the Veranda carpet worked! i wish i hadent sold it but i can always make another! my miners moss worked ok untill the water stopped, and the blacksands locked up and didnt unlock when the flow was restarted..but if you dont stop the flow(never have plugups/stop for refueling/ do some Turkey!!) it worked ok. if/when you do stop, a cleanup is needed with miners moss. thats what ive seen! the Veranda carpet did as John said it would. i have a Gold Cube with the Vortex matting in it and im equally impressed with this device and the Vortex mat thats in it for its ability to clear itself.but theres no need to stop this hungary monster untill your done doing cleanups! the Veranda works for me and is doable cost wise. the Vortex mat is expensive, so replaceing it in my dredge isnt doable for me.why fix something thats not broke?
