Pump question

What pump do you guys use for High banking.
I have a 9" wide 4'6" long sluice.
Gold Hog mat i am using recommends 200 to 300 GPH.
I also have a 4' extension i might use.

I could use whatever info you have.

yes you could use whatever pump comes along untill you need to move that water up hill to your HB. then youll need a pump that have the head pressure thatlldo the job for you. ive have several pumps that id tote along with me over the years for convienience to me while traveling. ive been reduceing the equipment that i have. now if i need a highbanker pump i just use the engine/pump off my dredge. why have 3 when 1 will do.

Where the real question is .....on/by the water pretty ez to find a el cheapo pump to hb with but moving up and away requires a better pump. There are clear water,trash pumps and close tolerance high pressure pumps such as utilized by dredges. Also a huge factor is the style of hose utilized even. I know whats this madman talkn' about?? Layflat hose kinks easily because it requires X factor of pressure to keep its self expanded for the water to flow through-solid wall is self holding so you do NOT lose precious psi trying to push water AND keep that hose rigid so it doesn't stop/kink. You didn't state hose size to run hb so can't answer any more of your question as that is the most pertinent piece of info to the CAN I puzzle. John

Hoser hit the mark on this one - we need to know more. For just a few feet "rise" (head) you should do fine. For more performance (higher "rise or Head") you will need more performance.

To stop kinking of your lay flat hose, consider putting 4 feet of semi rigid (flexible) tubing at the pump and the High Banker ends of your lay flat hose. That stops a LOT of the "Killer Kinking" that John mentioned.

Here is another thought.

Buy 2- or more 50' sections of lay flat and 1 extra set of couplings and bands. Then cut 1 on the 50's into a 20' and 30' section. Then when you lay out hose start with the longest sections first. Lets say 2 - 50' sections the finish with the shortest section that will reach, That way you don't have a lot of extra hose laying on the ground to kink up on you.

Lay flat hose is not all bad but is will pack for travel better than the other types. I like to use swimming pool skimmer hose from Lowes or HD most of the time if I'm close to the creek. I take a cut down 30 gal poly barrel to use as a catch pan and I coil the hose in it when I travel.

I am new to this and notices that most the place's i go are only 2' to maybe 10'
Fab work was done and picked up today.
See what i can get done this weekend.
Just kinda confused on this pump thing.
I will try and get some more info.
I now have Gold Cube and blue bowl i have worked threw so this is all i have left to figure out.

5 hp trash pump should work for 10' up and 25' away easily and run a 2.5 dredge when needed. ALWAYS buy bigger than your needs as you can ALWAYS turn a pump down BUT when maxed out your tinker toy you are tough kaka outta luck. 1 1/2"-2" at least. Better yet just get a real pump like keene,proline,nugget,gold king,precision and then your golden. John PS-much easier to haul around a 3-4 hp briggs/honda with a much lighter pump that does much more than haul a extremely heavy cumbersome trash pump a as much bigger and heavier for less results. Costs are close as smaller does more especially in the back pressure,psi,gpm arena.
