With this change they also made sucker tubes illegal. If you want to go by the letter of the law, using a turkey baster used when sniping is also illegal. They also struck the exemption to panning so the overzealous Barney Fife may cite you for that as well.

it sure would be nice to see a national news/documentory show on what cal. has done to dredgeing. from what mining got cal. tobe to what it is now and at what cost for all to be deprived of!

But who would do that show, Russ? Animal plant or Discovery are far to left to touch that and it is not interesting (not profitable) for any of the syndicates. CNN and Fox maybe but it would more likely serve as an example for other states to control its citizens.
There are few options...organize and vote them out or stage less than peaceful protests to get the politicians attention...or both

I say we harass the hell out of them. Jet boats are legal because they are not "vacuuming material" from the river. We need to launch our dredges and just run the motors all day and pump water while we drink beer. Totally legal but they will have to check every one of us to ensure compliance. We can take off the mufflers and only fun a spark arrester just to piss off the rafters and fishers and there isn't a single thing they can do about it.
