GI water cans

Postby Plumas » Sun Mar 21, 2010 5:12 pm

I was looking for some good water cans and recently found a super deal on genuine USGI water cans from a company called LCI http://www.buylci.com/
They have a completely random and sketchy webpage but they happen to be a GSA supplier.

Click on FAQ and then click "Shop As Guest" and search for "Water Can" and they should pop up--$18.99 each, which is about half of what they would normally cost. There's a minimum order of $50.00, but LCI does not seem to charge for shipping--awesome as these water cans are fairly heavy duty. These are the real-deal, plastic mil-spec water cans with "Property of the U.S. Government" on the side. And hey, you can get them in any color as long as it's sand or green.

Well, I decided to give it a go and placed an order for 4 cans. Water storage is one of my areas that need improvement. I've been looking at various water storage means, but longevity and durability are a concern with most of the cheap water cans that are sold at camping supply stores and Wal-Mart. MWCs seemed ideal--durable, portable, etc.--but too expensive at $35-50 bucks a pop. LCI's price was right, so I jumped on it.

The MWCs arrive packed in a box, and upon initial look over seem to be in perfect condition. They are impressively built--they'll last for the next 20 years, I imagine--and are just about the coolest water can money can buy.

So, big thumbs up for LCI--great deal. I received the cans in about a week--perfectly acceptable shipping time. If you need to store up some water (or are looking for something to survive more than a few camping trips) check 'em out!

Looks like an interesting site. A little bit of everything. I really like the free shipping. Thanks for sharing the site with us. Marc

Thanks Marc

I tried to get an image to load... Much to learn about Leonard's new system.

But here's a link that provides spec's and look them over.

I should have also mentioned that these are the 5 gal. / 20 liter cans.

Also make great gas containers in a pinch. As long as they are made of Polyethylene and most are, although not approved for this purpose or of legal color for California, so beware. Worked for me. :D

And vice versa, I have used some new clean Scribner utility fuel jugs for my potable water.
