Did any of you see the cover of the latest ICMJ Mining Journal? Cover picture and article on the huge nuggets found up near Liberty, WA. Most of the creeks flowing north (Swauk) or south (Peshastin) have reported good gold deposits and this is where Washington's only major gold rush began in 1873. Swauk Creek had a bucket line dredge operating there in the 1920s. Also near where the small scale miner's Resources Coalition had their Miner's Rally last August.
Did my first suction dredging up there in 1981 on Swauk Creek with an ancient Keene 2-1/2 inch dredge AND found my very first little picker, a 0.3 DWT nugget, wedged in a bedrock crack in a creek area about 300 feet adjacent from State Highway 97. Caught a lingering case of gold fever that remains with me today.
Have any of you been up to this region?
