the gpaa backed out of their agreement with the Missouri clubs on short notice(2 1/2 moths)! three clubs have already put money down to secure this AG building at the Missouri State fairgrounds. gpaa wont even return phone calls or emails to the clubs involved with ANY explaination as to why they backed out on short notice! LOTS of poed people here in Missouri! and I wouldn't be suprized if there was somesort of retaliation if those $$ aren't reimberssed with a apolllllllllllllllogy! ive also heard some bigger gpaa clubs have stopped their gpaa affiliation and some higher-ups have quit! Ole Buzzard would be fuming right now!

John that loss of tokens for clubs stopped atleast 2 years ago from what ive heard/saw! I heard that Brandon Johnson (Toms stepson) was running everything now! I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a mass exodus of clubs from the gpaa very soon!

This is my own conjecture/speculation.....

Names at the top have changed for GPAA, ie Branndon pres., but think the peoples behind the scenes are still the same.
They may have restructured the Co. for tax reasons, corp. structure, releasing of responsibilities, contract changes, no one knows for sure but them.
This may also may be the reason for a website 'relunch'.
I'm sure the Calif. dredge 'moratorium' has put a big dent in GPAAs budget. Money is tight, I don't care what the GDP is or what the Dems are tellin ya, people aint spending like they did.
Not sure they were/are ready for the disgruntledness on the forums, especially from the seasoned veterans (the ole guys).
Probably not much will happen/change until Alaska closes for the season. Only real changes I see is an exodus of members.
'Just Another Brick in the Wall'.....

Again, this is only my opinion/speculation, I have no affiliation with GPAA (other than membership  ), or any other club/forum.

I read over on another mining forum that Tom owed the grandpa money, and appointing Brandon president was part of the repayment. Take that for what its worth. Also, in that same message, they went on to say that Brandon hired on some of his buddies to run day to day things that don't know the first thing about mining/prospecting. If there's ANY truth to this, the GPAA will fade quickly.

Same same with Mad Jack,no longer state director as they refused any help to assist in keeping dredging legal Maine. I belong to nuttn' no more either OC except 3 forums and even that's fading as new 'puter driving me nutz--short trip I know I know  but must contribute to those who have helped so many for so many years out of respect, club getting smaller by the day as we pass away :?
