Awesome Weather

Postby polekaat » Sun Feb 23, 2014 8:11 am

It's supposed to feel like 60 degrees down in Denver today. I'm gonna head down the mountains and see if I can sluice up a little color on Clear Creek, after church.
On a side note. I'm looking to get a gold cube, to save myself hours of panning time. If you know of anyone looking to sell a 4 stack deluxe gold cube, I'm finally in the market.

Well.....the weather let me down a little....it was colder than I expected....at least I didn't break a sweat.
My buddy and I only ran 10 buckets of material, from a gravel bar. Very little color in the pan to show for our efforts....but something is better than nothing.
I think I blew a lot of gold out of my sluice, because the ribbed rubber mat up front came unglued and was sticking up in the flow about 3"....I ended up setting a big rock on it to keep it down....but even that "fix" caused the flow to be disrupted....just not as bad..

I took the family down to Clear Creek, in Denver yesterday. The weather was beautiful. We got a little color....not much though. We ran into Dr. Sluice (Rick) on his way out. He showed us some nice flakes that he'd pulled out not far from us. I swear that guy's a gold magnet!
It was a great day spent outdoors with the family.

Here's a short video of Bella "helping" us. I looked over and she had taken a garden trowel and was putting dirt in the classifier, then shaking it down. I grabbed my phone and started videoing it as my buddy Rich went over and helped her out.

I didn't show her what she was supposed to be doing. She just saw me and Rich classifying everything before Christina put it through the sluice. I really liked how much enthusiasm she put into classifying. She also grabbed a pan, put some dirt in it, added water, and tried some panning.
Then she sat on my lap and fed the sluice by herself.
Christina and I couldn't be more proud!!!
