These folks, "Fish Not Gold" are aligning themselves with some of the usual suspects when it comes to the "Green Agenda"!

Cascadia Wildlands who is a bastard child of the sierra club, was heavily involved in shutting Oregon down. They have now moved their attention North to Washington and have set up a field office in Alaska.
Alaska may be a long way off but they are most certainly headed that direction at best possible speed

Since these Gold shows started the assaults have flowed forth to try and outlaw dredging in particuliar. I am now working on over turning a negative declaration on the Clear Creek restoration to prevent the desecration. I dredged them up 500+ yards of fresh clean gravels to run their fish habitat study back in 91 to prove dredge restoration works cleanly. Now that's been hidden and ALL mining in any formm,except pans,now illegal on 32 miles of creek and feeder streams. A daily assault on all fronts...sic sic sic-John

I think they would rather than submit to the lower 48's line of thinking. If you could spend some time there, you'd see what I mean. They are a totally independent thinking group. It's great for the younger set of people.

Hoards of the unwashed, back to nature types who just happen to usually be far left leaning liberals have been flocking to the "wild" areas of our country for decades...Colorado, Wyoming Montana are all very different than they were 20-30 years ago because of them. This is also true for Alaska. Starry eyed hippie kids have been trekking there by the busload, they move in and bring their liberal values and politics with them...it's simply a matter of numbers and Alaska is sparsely populated so it wont take long for the natives to be out numbered.
