Arkansas River Nuggets

Leonard, you know how you have THE story of an Arkansas River nugget (http://www.lornet.com/prospector/articles/arkansasriver.htm)? Its the only one I have ever heard about - up until last weekend.

Randy and I put 8 hours of nozzle time in the icy cold Arkansas River this past Sunday and Monday and found this beauty. He is the one good at documenting these excursions, so I will let him provide more details if he wishes. However, its nice to be in the very exclusive "Ark Nugget Club".

Your nugget was much bigger - since this "monster" is only 2.3 grains. However, I have convinced myself for many years that size doesn't matter.

Looks great. I think I know where it came from. It sure is great being able to dredge on the Arkansas! Now you won't be able to get Randy out of the water. If Ed doesn't buy this spring I know where he can get a great deal on a dredge.

Thanx much Russ for the kind invite. Got another set a shots monday so by god I'm doing anything I can to make my dredging dreams come true. Got'm all now-16 in the lumbar,8 in the scyatic and 4 in the scanlon (spelling?)end a the tailbone. Next set is upn' between my eyes if needed -John

Yep....that Ark picker John & I dredged up was a real beauty...

You know you're doing well when you drop it and it makes a big "clunk" when it hits the bottom of your pan...

Good thing was it acted just like gold, was stuck up front in my 12 inch section of GH UR matting, in a groove, under black sand.

I have found several very small pickers in years past, but nothing close to the size of this little chunker.

I need OKJohn up here more often to go dredging. The "two man" concept on 1 dredge was a LOT more fun, worked well.....and neither one of us hurt ourselves, although we came close trying to lug that frame/engine/pump/compressor assembly back UP that steep river bank!

I used to team up most of the time. Makes it easier to get the equipment to the water and also is a lot more fun.
