yep a visit with Mr. Richard Bohling is always a good thing! he was headed to a rock show by flat River Misery for the weekend. hot and rain for the next 5 days according to the weather report! Dick will be sleeping in a tent!

I'm back home how and a little wet around the edges.

Went to the St Joe State Park Rock and Mineral show. Nice turn out and lots of venders to look at rocks. Even a little gold. As for digging, not much of a chance, all the creeks were out of their banks and running fast. I did find some promising places to check out next year. Luckily, I missed most of the actual heavy rain and aside from a few rain events, I kept dry in the tent. YEA!!!!!!

I am planning on posting a photo of the old lead mine that now is a museum as soon as I get a chance.

I had a great time and bought some nice minerals for my collection. Plan to return next year and try again.

Next trip is up to Lake Superior in July for a few days. Sure beats sitting at home watching TV and wishing I was out getting relief from my fever.

This is the Old Lead Mine that has been closed and the State of MO now has made into a museum at St Joe State Park, Park Hill, MO. The Rock swap was held here in the back parking area of the museum. I would guess there were about 60 vendors showing their wares. I found some nice stuff and had a great time and met some old and new friends. We had several of our local Rock and Mineral Club attend the show also. You know the steaks taste a lot better at the camp site.



I did stop by Russ's house and we had lunch and spent about three hours telling lies. It's been three years since we worked the PLP booth in St. Joe, MO with Walt Wegner. I'll try and add my 4 star Hotel accommodations here tomorrow.

Hi John:

I would have loved to go down into that tunnel mine and to see the geology there. I have not been into a lead mine and I think it would be fascinating to see how lead ore was mined. The shafts and timbers are probably very unsafe now and there are most likely many collapsed areas down there. I didn't have time to take the museum tour and see all the artifacts this trip, but will get it done next year. Lots of forest down around that area and I would have liked to have spent more time exploring the forests for small creeks and rock outcrops. I had planned to stay another day, but didn't expect the weather to cooperate, so I played it safe and packed up.

The trip was well worth the drive and I'll see more next year. The gold will still be there. MAYBE????????????
