Yes, the CalFire crew I talked to said that they most likely let it back all the way down to the river. (Too steep to work on in many spots)

They are doing a little more than just "letting" it back down to the river Harry. They are setting back fires to burn up fuel before the main fire gets in it. The whole ridge to the north of us and across the river burned slowly all day yesterday and last night. It took two days to burn a quarter of the way down the ridge.

It is nothing like the fire up your way in Hawkinsville, which burned very fast and hot. This that we are experiencing is a slow creeper because it is an intended backfire. This fire just slowly crept down the ridge burning leaves and pine needles, every once in awhile it would ignite a dead tree and flare up. I saw fire fighters shooting what looked like bottle rockets across the river last night to burn dry fuel that had not burned yet.

Now the ridge across from us looks like a hillside of small campfires, where the dead stiff like Manzanita is glowing. This morning it had moved almost down to the river, not much left to burn, so we are hoping this may be the end of this.

Sounds like the end....

They did the same thing near our house on the Salmon river several years ago..... Fired "rockets" and did small backfires. to bring it down to the road/river.
