I think they(Roaring Camp) made it thru with no burnt buildings, ill post back to confirm, but what a shame many homes were burnt elsewhere in that fire which is 45 percent contained right now

Thought Jim lived in the Happy Camp area ?

Although, aren't they on fire also ?

If you zoom in looking at the satellite image google maps offers when looking at the fire perimeter map, it looks like the fire is at Roaring Camps back door.
Almost there but not quite.
Havent looked today however.

Its a tragedy, but if you live in a hilly, wooded area, you have the thought in the back of your mind, any day now it could happen, especially this time of year.
I do and I don't live there full time, but know that it could happen anytime when mankind gets involved.

Its interesting, mother nature has it figured out.
Take mankind out of the equation.
Mother nature starts fires naturally late in the season, brings the rain to put the fire out, or at least knock them way down, life goes on.
Mother nature doesn't burn the entire forest down at one time.

Mankind thinks they know better. Fools :ugeek:

Well said OC, it's the truth. Remember, when is was considered absolutely terrible to clear cut blocks of timber, because it scared the forest. What do you think a forest fire does. It burns all the wood and cleans all the under brush from the forest so the forest will regenerate itself. Let's thank all the ecco nuts for all the good they did for California and Oregon.

Sickening fact is this is last years fire that smoldered underground and reignited itself so a REDUX for gods sake. This will be seen yet again next year unless torrential downpours really soak the ground deep. As more of the dozen or so fires are brought under control, or moves on, the body count rises daily sic sic sic-John

Had a great time at RC met up with a few friends, made some more, went floating down the river with my mask and saw the rainbows swimming around, took a hike to china camp, its pretty much grown all back in since the fires last year, Lots and lots of mining activity going on, more than i can really ever remember since the dredging ban, any ways it was fun, kids wanna go back again next year.
