What's up??

Postby russau » Sat Oct 28, 2017 8:20 am

It's been real quiet hear and on most website's . What has everyone been up to? New project's , redoing equipment , searching for new location's ? I've been slowly coming to the realization that dredging is getting to much for me as well as prospecting / mining in general...............NOW what does a person do ? I really liked going out to new location's with a dredge , But now I've downsized from a 4 inch to a 2 inch and I think it's going to be to much for most of next year also. I also like making new project's / equipment but I'm only up to that for a couple of hour's a day. I thought I'd like camping in our new RV but this year it's either been to hot or to wet. I keep saying , "maybe next year will be better" BUT how many time's am I going to say that??? I tried the coin collection BUT how many time's am I going to look at or count these same coin's??? I've racked my brain trying to think of something new to do but I've run out of idea's . Next July someone said something about going back to Douglas Creek in Wyoming .I've talked with Leonard about this and I think this is doable , well I'm going to give it another try. The gpaa club here in ST. Louis , Misery has folded a couple of years back so those sources are gone. This will probly be my last year. I'm due to have my other knee (left) replaced in mid - December and I guess I will have to see how it goes after that! Heck I haven't even hit powerball ! If I did , I would show Todd Hoffman how to waste money just like he does!

The prospecting got to be too much for me. Thats why the dredge is gone. It really hurt selling it but it would have just sat in the barn and rotted away.

The wife and I like driving around our local area watching and looking on the activities like about 2 weeks ago they started harvesting the sugar beets. These corn fields need to be picked. They are building a new house here. Things like that.We get out and check on the wildlife. We saw 8 deer the other day. 5 of them were in a small herd. Haven't seen any herd up like that for a while.

It might seem dumb but it's great spending the uninterrupted time with the wife. The last 30 years I worked 55-60 hours a week. Didn't get a lot of "us" time then.

We put a lot of miles on the old truck at 20 mph. We drive the dirt roads mostly and watch the tops of the power poles and transmission towers for eagles and hawks. We are probably the old farts that are blocking you on the road.

Yep thats the one! Ol red has 335,000 miles racked up. It's spent a lot of time pulling the tent trailer around the country. I've got the money sitting in the bank for a new one but red won't die. It's become a contest on who will go first. It or me.
