For your enjoyment I will share with you the pictures of the summer home. It ain’t much.

Yeah it is tent camping but far from roughing it !!! I enjoy and always cherish the time spent on these mining claims.

I would like to also thank my daughter for taking these great pictures, which otherwise I wouldn’t have.


In viewing these pictures you really can’t gain the respect for the remoteness and the appreciation for the great difficulty which is involved in packing gear and equipment into this location. Probably better that way.

Nice camp.

If I am going to be in 1 place long.
I stretch a 50 ft cable tree to tree about 8 or 9ft high, with a come-a-long.
(tight like a bow string)
Then, stretch a 20X40 tarp over it, well anchored down.

Then, pitch the bunkhouse tent under it.
Gives you shade from the sun.
Keeps the rain off the tent, when it pours.
Has enough extra awning space, to keep supplies, firewood under it & dry.

In my old age, I now use a folding cot in the tent.
Use an EHOB thin waffle air mattress on top the cot.
Sleeping on that,in a good bag is like heaven.

Sounds like what we use to tight line the dredges. Good idea!!!

I found running 3/8" rope across the river and a racketing tie down to snug it up, makes for a great line to tie off the dredges to.

This comes from all the horror stories I have heard of dredges washing away during flash floods or high water, hearsay, yet to be seen. (knock on wood)

What no shower/toilet combo????? And if I tried that kinda kitchen you'd have to rename it the BEAR feeding station?? How do ya get away with that??? Sure is nice to have some creature comforts--in my tent I have a swamp cooler that runs on batteries next to my head for those 100+ nights here in kalif. I use fans too for the evening cool and I absolutely love them screen tents because them insane meat bees do not get in or them blood sucking critters either-tons a au 2 u 2 John-John

Mr. Hoser, just wait till you see Leonards kitchen! and you wont need now stinkin fan in Wyoming! beautifull days but cool at night! great for sleeping!ill bring a extra coat for the evening for you to use! i always carry extra cloths and blankets.last year the water froze in our pans and i had to fill the coffee pot BEFORE i went to bed cause the valve on the water tank freezes also.but its all worth it!

Hoser you gotta show those bears who’s the boss, especially the cinnamon bears. No problems!!!
Darn meatbees were bad last year!!! mosquitoes too.
Don't need no fan or swamp cooler for 80's-90's daytime perfect for a dredging and the good old Sierra AC kicks in about 10 o’clock in the evening by the morning sometimes in the 50's, sometimes a little chilly. Perfect !!!!
Hoser I will spare any pictures of the make shift toilet. LOL

That sure looks like a cozy camp and some fine looking nuggets. Nothing but great memories generated from camping along a creek and pulling nice gold from it........... Course, I have moved up in the world and now use my pop up camper with a very nive queen sized foam bed, thanks to Geno. No more getting flooded out from afternoon T-showers.

Yup.... getting real soft in my golden years!
