Great memories for sure ! But my favorite story was when you picked up Geno at the airport and were driving though Denver on the way to Wyoming and had trailer problems and had to wait there until the next morning so you set up your trailer and lawn chairs in their parking lot for a evening of entertainment ! Lot's of great stories shared !

Well it was 106 deg.when i pulled up at 3 pm,and it just quit raining- no kidding, just enough to soak the ground any ways i was able to get 2 full buckets to the wash plant,and got two pickers and a couple of flakes, just got back home its a 265 mile round trip to the property, it was late and didnt take any pictures this trip, i will the next one, Todd

Hmmmmm - If my math is right that's about 25 miles to the gallon for two full 5 gallon buckets. I've done better (and worse!). Take for instance the time I flew on a Military Hop from Ohio to Alaska and back. The sad fact is that on that trip I found ZIP, NADA, NUTTIN' Gold - making the miles per gallon incredibly high that time. Thankfully "Uncle" payed for the fuel and maintenance on that one.

WELL, YES I DID!

The flight both ways was in a KC-135 - a "Big Ol'e Refueler" - and the view!!!!! From the refueling guy's "seat" (they lie on their stomach to 'fly' the refueling probe to steady it while the receiving aircraft maneuvers their fuel port to hook up). With the mirrors and the unbelievable view straight down and around it was as though there was nothing under you at all.

In the mountains I was constantly looking for old mine works but the altitude was just too high. Of course no one was supposed to be in there during landings (wink, wink) and all I can say is that it was incredible seeing the ground rising up to smite our wheels.

Of course, the weather was perfect and the time I spent prospecting around was well spent --- just no Gold. Now, other times there were different results - other stories for another time, I guess.

Hey Leonard - you ever take Military Hops anywhere when you were on Active Duty? Few did, but the experiences were world class and to be remembered for all time!

The only hop I ever took was from Anchorage to Seatac. It was on a C124 Globemaster flying at 18,000 feet. It wasn't pressurized and you couldn't smoke as your cigarettes wouldn't stay lit. You can tell it was the old days as you could smoke in the airplanes then. They would come by every while and kick your feet to make sure you were staying awake. We didn't get much sight seeing as most of the flight was at night.

Glad to see you're still kickin' (maybe not too high, but kicking none-the-less).

I'll be really glad when this artificial, political, exploitation of this COVID panic is finally exposed and done with. Hard to be an 'Oather' in times like this - you know "... against all enemies, foreign and domestic ...".
