Fire isn't your problem. How are you with the hurricanes?

Leonard: we were extremely fortunate. Wind wasn't a problem (40 sustained for about 6 hours then it backed down each hour) but water was. Dumped about 15 inches on the immediate area. Could have been a real disaster if not for drawing the reservoir down (Walter F. George) to repair damage from Hurricane Michael. They had it drawn down to levels the locals had never seen and we were at the dam watching the trucks come in - to give you an idea, they dumped 1/4 million pounds of material into the levee in 15 minutes that we saw. They had been doing this for a week - so it was no small problem. 840 miles of shoreline, reservoir down about 10 feet, this thing hits and it's over full pool in one night! Elsewhere every little creek and the rivers are flooded, several towns are as well since this was historic rain. No real damage from winds in any of them, but if we're hit again the trees will really fall with softened earth. We're going to try to go to town today our regular route but may have to take the highway since it's higher.
I did call Larry Lake (you'd know him if you saw him) and he and the wife are safe in Wa. He did say they're in constant smoke from the Portland fires though.
