Any open prospecting areas near Jackson CA?

Hi All,
I'm heading to Cali for a family reunion near Jackson, and I thought I'd bring my sluice and maybe get some panning in. I imagine I can find considerably more than here in the wet NW!
I've come to distrust the accuracy of Geocommunicator and don't want to step on any ones claims, so I thought I'd stick to areas that are open/withdrawn from mineral claiming (if there are any... we have a couple in the cascades here.). Are there any and if so, are there any near Jackson in the foot hills? I don't need much to make me happy! Just fine dust will do!

Bring your stuff, there is a river close by and a few creeks you can play in.

Go south about a mi, from where 49 and 88 meet. Electra rd. Mokeuleme river. Check first.
